Your friend (me in this case) just told you that there are colorful walls all around you. That day, you spot the most PIZZAZZY of all walls. Coincidence? Nah. It's called the Baader-Meinhof phenomenon or "frequency illusion."

People ask me how I find colorful walls or murals. I really don't, they yell at me from the side of the road. It's like the cheapskate in me picking up pennies off the ground. To normal people, they go unnoticed.

Then again, I'm always scanning my peripheral vision for colors, shapes or patterns and making mental notes. Oftentimes while driving. Always while I should be paying attention to the road.

While I do research walls (and food) before I travel somewhere, that's not really possible in Salem, Oregon our sweet skimped on murals town. Limited on time and baby in tow, I set off to do Salem's first known colorful wall crawl. I did the rainbow backward because of course I did.

GOBLESSSS those of you who have sent me pictures of your hometown walls or ones you've found on vacation. It warms my heart that my enthusiasm for randomness has helped open your eyes to the beauty that surrounds you.
