Dear GOD, the Midwest is some special type of hot in June! I've spent many summers in southern California but most time in mild, humid-free Oregon. Nothing compares.

Besides the persistent perspiration, our road trip from Louisville to Indianapolis to Cincinnati and down to Nashville will always hold a special place in my heart.

I feel like I missed out on a lot of Nashville being confined to an air-conditioned car and the Gaylord Opryland. I'd love to return when the weather is more walker-friendly and venture to Memphis (ok and maybe Little Rock, AR).

Until then, I'll be in Oregon dreaming of the peach preserves at Monell's at the Manor and the charm of Franklin, TN.
