I believe that art education should be a space of exploration, experimentation, and growth, where students are encouraged to take creative risks without fear of failure. My classroom is designed to be a hands-on, student-centered environment where learning happens through active engagement, problem-solving, and personal expression. Art is a powerful tool for communication, and my goal as an educator is to help students develop confidence in their creative voices while also equipping them with technical and critical thinking skills that will serve them beyond the art studio.
I have always been a perfectionist, hesitant to take risks for fear of making mistakes. I don’t want my students to feel that same pressure. In my classroom, perfection doesn’t exist; only progress. I encourage students to embrace the creative process, take risks, and push their own artistic boundaries. Whether working with traditional media or digital platforms, students are given the freedom to explore their ideas, make mistakes, and learn through trial and revision. I want my students to relax, breathe, have fun, and grow not just as artists but as individuals who are confident in their ability to create and innovate.
As an educator, I am also committed to meeting students where they are and ensuring that every student has access to a meaningful and engaging art education. My experiences working with students of different backgrounds, abilities, and experiences (such as English language learners and students with disabilities) have shaped my approach to teaching. I have created adaptive tools and modified lessons to ensure that all students, regardless of their circumstances, can fully participate in creative expression. I believe that art belongs to everyone, and everyone deserves the opportunity to find their artistic voice.
Finally, I see myself as a lifelong learner, constantly evolving alongside my students. The world of art and technology is always changing, and I embrace the opportunity to continue growing, refining my skills, and learning from the students I teach. My classroom is a collaborative space where curiosity, respect, and creativity are at the core of everything we do. By fostering an environment where students feel safe to explore, challenge themselves, and express their perspectives, I hope to inspire them to carry their creativity into every aspect of their lives.
