Since Meetings Notes Taker is a "Bring Your Own Key" (BYOK) extension, you need two keys to make it work. Both have generous free tiers.
1. Get your Deepgram Key (For Transcription)
Go to Deepgram Console.
Sign up for a free account (usually includes $200 in free credits).
Click "Create New API Key."
Copy the key and paste it into the Meetings Notes Taker settings.
2. Get your Gemini Key (For AI Summaries)
Go to Google AI Studio.
Sign in with your Google Account.
Click "Get API Key" on the left sidebar.
Create a key in a new project.
Copy the key and paste it into the extension.
❓ Why is the "Start Recording" button not working?
Permission: Ensure you have granted the extension permission to "Capture Tab Audio" when the popup appears.
Active Tab: Make sure you are on a web page (it won't work on empty "New Tab" pages or the Chrome Web Store itself).
❓ "Error: Invalid API Key"
Double-check that you haven't included any extra spaces when copying and pasting your keys.
Ensure your Deepgram credits haven't expired (they usually last 90 days).
❓ The summary is empty or says "Error"
This happens if the transcript is too short (less than a few sentences).
If the meeting was very long, wait a few seconds for the AI to process the data.
❓ Does this work on Zoom or Teams?
Yes! Simply open the Web Version of Zoom or Microsoft Teams in your Chrome browser. The extension captures audio from the browser tab, not the desktop app.

When you submit to the Chrome Web Store, there is a field for "Support URL." 1. Don't leave it blank. 2. If you don't have a website yet, use a Google Form or a GitHub Issues link. 3. Google's reviewers look for a way for users to reach you; having a clear support path makes your extension look professional and trustworthy.
