Meetings Notes Taker ("we," "us," or "the Extension") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data when you use our Chrome Extension. Our guiding principle is Privacy by Design: we aim to collect the absolute minimum amount of data necessary to provide our service.
To provide transcription and summarization features, the Extension handles the following types of data:
Authentication Information (API Keys): We collect and store your Deepgram and Google Gemini API keys. These keys are stored locally on your device using the chrome.storage.local API. We never see, store, or transmit these keys to our own servers.
Personal Communications (Audio & Text): * Audio Capture: When you click "Start Recording," the Extension captures audio from your active browser tab. This audio is streamed directly to Deepgram for real-time transcription via an encrypted WebSocket connection.
Transcription & Summaries: The resulting text transcript is sent to Google Gemini for summarization.
Website Content: The Extension captures audio produced by the website you are currently visiting (e.g., Google Meet, Zoom) solely for the purpose of transcription.
No Server-Side Storage: We do not operate any backend servers. Your transcripts, summaries, and audio are processed in real-time or stored locally in your browser’s memory/storage.
Local Control: You can clear all stored transcripts and summaries at any time by clicking the "Clear Data" button within the Extension.
Encryption: All data transmitted to third-party APIs (Deepgram and Google) is sent over secure, encrypted connections (HTTPS/WSS).
The Extension facilitates the transfer of data to the following third-party providers:
Deepgram: Used for speech-to-text processing. Deepgram Privacy Policy
Google Gemini (Google Cloud): Used for AI-driven summarization. Google Privacy Policy
Please note that because you are using your own API keys, your data is subject to the terms and privacy settings of your individual accounts with these providers.
No Selling of Data: We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information or meeting data to third parties.
Limited Use: We only use and transfer user data to provide or improve the core user-facing features of the Extension. We do not use your data for advertising, creditworthiness, or any unrelated purposes.
As all data is stored locally in your browser, you have full control over it. You may:
Delete your API keys by clearing the settings in the Extension.
Delete all meeting history by using the "Clear Data" function.
Uninstall the Extension to remove all associated local data.
