My name is Laura Lacker and I was born and raised within Rockland County, New York. I will graduate from St. Thomas Aquinas College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Childhood and Special Education in May of 2025. By the spring of 2026 I expect to have a Master of Science degree in Teaching Literacy from St. Thomas Aquinas College. After completion of my masters, my goal for further education is to attain a post masters certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL).
My student teaching experiences occurred in two different districts. From January 21 to March 14, I was in a general education second grade classroom within the East Ramapo School District. From March 17 to May 2, I was within a sixth grade special eduction classroom within the Clarkstown Central School District.
I believe that every child deserves and has the right to a fair and engaging education. I believe a successful classroom is built on balance, adaptability, and strong relationships. Holding students to high expectations means providing diverse learning opportunities that engage them in meaningful ways. By fostering motivation and meeting individual needs, I create an environment where all students feel supported, challenged, and inspired to grow.
