"Audra Nicole" Davison Thorpe is an award-winning filmmaker, screenwriter, author, and educator whose work explores identity, culture, social issues, and the possibilities of imaginative storytelling. She earned her B.A. from Spelman College in 2022 and an MFA in Narrative Media Writing from the University of Georgia in 2024.
Her creative work spans film, television, animation, and literature, with a particular interest in stories that center Black experiences while engaging with larger social and cultural questions. She was a winner of the HBCU Week NOW Student Shorts Film Festival, presented in partnership with Black Public Media, with the award providing funding for the production of her current short film, Empathetic.
Her short film Green was an Official Selection at the 2024 Tokyo International Short Film Festival. Her award-winning film Chronically Online which she produced, directed, and edited, was selected for six film festivals and received five awards and is currently available to stream on Prime Video.
Audra is also the creator and author of The Hale Academy, including The Hale Academy: A Trip to the Kalunga and The Hale Academy: A Realm Unknown, which are available on Amazon. Her animated project The Hale Academy was supported by a grant from Meta and the Blackhouse Foundation.
Audra is also a Communications Specialist at Alight Solutions.
