Genital plates

They consist of five plates around the anus, on the aboral side. They have a duct and they release the gametes (sperm or eggs).

The largest plate of the five is called the madreporite. It filters water into the vascular system to maintain a stable internal pressure. This is especially important because of the displacement of Aristotle's Lantern while feeding.
