My name is Ashley Medina, and I am an educator with an interest in local and state government policy. My career in education began with Teach for America - Oklahoma, where I sought opportunities to grow as a policy researcher as well as an educator.
At Rutgers' Newark School of Public Affairs and Administration, I focused on human resource management in public education, including teacher training, recruitment, onboarding, and professional development. In conjunction, I studied state and local policies and their role in education funding, teacher certifications, and educator salaries.
When we create systems that invest in the continuous growth of educators and other public servants, we enhance their ability to serve effectively. Ultimately, well-prepared public servants lead to stronger, more equitable public services that better meet the needs of all communities.
The aim of my my Academic and Professional Portfolio is to outline my growth and commitment to the field of K-12 public education management in addition to innovative local in addition to state government policies.
This website showcases a mix of projects completed during my time in Teach for America, as a 2021 Urban Leaders Policy fellow, as an educator at two separate charter schools, and as a student at Rutgers’ School of Public Affairs and Administration - Newark (SPAA).
