Martin Luther was a Catholic theologian, born 1486, who preached and wrote criticisms against the Catholic church.
He was particularly critical of the Church/State union previously discussed.
He also criticized the Catholics for corruption, greed, and immorality. He called the Pope the antiChrist.
Luther was excommunicated by the Church and was forced to go into hiding.
While in hiding, people claiming to be Luther's followers began a war against the Catholic church.
