The silly moments you see in these photos to the are of cosplayers at a convention just being goofy and having the time of their lives with their friends. The problem is that paid conventions are often the only place cosplayers or those of a wide variety of different subcultures have to be able to let loose and fully embrace their alternate life style. This is by no means a coincidence either with the variety of different "Issues" Main stream society has with this kind of behavior.
From females being demanded to tell their breast sizes (And when she outwardly refused to answer the question having her breast size become a topic for the crowd to shout out their takes on instead of what she was at the con to promote...) to being told that "You aren't a true [Enter sub-culture here] because you dont _____" after you have spent months of blood, tears, cash, time, and energy into your passion.
This isn't to indicate in any way that these subcultures are bad, just to point out the fact that these stories often never see the light of day. There are a million wonderful things to be had in subculture, but like any other grouping of humans, issues arise. The only difference is what is done about it. That's where we want to step in.
