6 DAYS IN GREECE

26 SEPTEMBER – 30 SEPTEMBER 2022

DAY 1:

On the first day we visited the ANT1 Media Lab for a pre-arranged workshop. Firstly, we were given lectures on news and Fake information by two famous reporters who also answered to students' questions. Then we has the chance to explore the studios and have a hands on experience. Moroever, students and the Greek cordinator were interviewed and told their opinion about their project and their experience of being in a real TV news studio holding profesional cameras and seeing their functions and angles. At the same time they took pictures in front of a green screen.

The project was highly disseminated as this workshop was shown on the TV news at national level.

In the afternoon they had the chance to visit the historical center of the town and have a walk around .

DAY 2:

In the morning participants had free time to visit the city sights. They went shopping and bought souvenirs for themselves , their family and friends . Also they ate Greek traditional food . Then on the second half of the day, they had to attend a lecture at the Acropolis Musuem. After they had a tour around the museum, they gathered at the conference hall which was pre-booked by the host school. Our gues presenter Mr Aris Louvris (eSafetyLabel.eu National Coordinator Member of the Advisory Body of the Hellenic Safe Internet Centre Cordinator of the Digital Literacy Action in the Region of Attice) presented all about Social Media and the dangers hidden in or the fake news spread.

DAY 3

On that day , they had a trip so we visited : Corinth Canal, Mycenae, Epidaur and the old capital of Greece, Nafplio. In Nafplio, they ate at restaurants nearby the sea.

DAY 4

On the fourth day , we worked at school. After the fantastic reception students had the chance to get to know with the whole school.

They worked at the library.They started with their presentations of the results of the survey we had performed before coming. Then they studied the news as they presented in their national news papers and focused on the central pages and the news promoted. After a short break the host cordinator offered a presentation on Media role in Democracy, the risks of using the internet without critical thinking, including terms such as Deep Fake and Filter bubbles. After that in the computer lab and in multinational groups they worked on fighting fake news and they created five posters with tips and pieces of advice on their subject to be researched.

Some hours later, after the meal , visitors had free time to go sighseeing.

DAY 5

Last day and after the final presentations, the Erasmus6 student participants and the host school students from Greece participated in sports games like football, voleyball etc. and had a fair well party eating and dancing traditional dances of all countries. They all had a great time and is something that everyone is going to remember forever. At the end of the day all participants said ‘Goodbye ‘ to each other.

Generally speaking 11th Lyceum Peristeriou has got deeply involved in the Media Education issue also participating in the National Net for Media Education sharing and disseminating knowledge gained from several resources
