Mandrel Extrusion, also known as Seamless Extrusion, is used to create fixed cross-section parts with internal cavities.
Mandrel extrusion is divided into fixed mandrel and floating mandrel subcategories. Fixed mandrel extrusion relies on a mandrel attached to the ram and dummy block, whereas a floating mandrel aligns itself during extrusion.
This project aims to replicate a large scale mandrel exturder (see: Referenced / Sourced Machines) and scale it to approximately a foot in height. This replica will be fully functional using Plasticine as opposed to aluminum.
