Hello! I'm Shajed, a Ph.D. graduate from Rice University specializing in the intersection of machine learning and materials science. My research, under the mentorship of Dr. Muhammad Rahman and Dr. Pulickel Ajayan, focused on pioneering sustainable innovations in additive manufacturing. I successfully defended my dissertation on Additive Manufacturing of Bio-inspired Sustainable Composites, which included the first-ever 3D printing of wood structures using water-based inks, a project published in Science Advances.
🔬 Key Contributions:
3D Printing Innovations: Led groundbreaking research on bio-inspired wood nanocomposites, showcasing the future of sustainable manufacturing in high-performance materials. My work has been published in Science Advances and highlighted in Nature.
Machine Learning in Materials Science: Applied deep learning techniques to predict material properties from molecular dynamics simulations, bridging the gap between data science and materials engineering.
Collaborative Research: Managed and contributed to industry-funded projects, with experience in both hands-on research and guiding multidisciplinary teams. I’ve authored 12 journal articles and assisted in securing nearly $1M in research funding from NSF and Carbon Hub.
🎓 Educator & Mentor: I’ve mentored graduate and undergraduate students, helping them advance in their research and academic careers. I have also taught courses and workshops on machine learning and additive manufacturing at both Rice University and BUET.
