About

Hi! I am Md Leion Hassan, born and raised in Netrokona, Bangladesh.

Recently, I have completed my undergraduate study (B.Sc., Honours) in oceanography from University of Chittagong, Bangladesh. I want to mention that I had done a term paper (short-term independent research) titled ‘Evaluation of phytoplankton phenology in the Bay of Bengal using remote sensing as part of my undergrad degree. Apart from my regular academic study, I have worked on several research projects related to remote sensing, GIS, seaweed, carbon sequestration, phytoplankton, aquaculture and coastal and marine environment. These research works have enabled me to acquire comprehensive knowledge of research protocols, manage robust data-driven analysis, conduct laboratory analysis and collect field data as a team and by myself. Besides, as a research assistant, I have developed my skill in writing project reports, budgeting, and compiling financial reports.

Instead of confining myself to classroom study, I participated in various voluntary and extracurricular activities throughout my student life. I used to refresh my mind through voluntary work, reading books, and sports in my spare time. It is a matter of pride to mention that I was the founder and president of ‘The Chittagong University Nature Club’ from March, 2020 to September 2023 in association with the Department of Environment (DOE) and Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change. More so, I was an active member of Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) from December 2017 to 2019. My academic study and involvement in extracurricular and voluntary works have made me a socially responsible and conscientious human being with a strong passion for pursuing a higher degree to become an expert in the desired field.
