Respondus

Getting started with Respondus lockdown browser & Monitor

All MDC Online courses require their proctored midterm/final exams to be completed with ProctorU.

MDC Live, Blended, and In-Person classes may use an alternative - as designated by the professor of each course - such as Respondus Lockdown Browser or Respondus Monitor.

Check with your instructor and course syllabus to see if the course requires the use of LockDown Browser for online exams. Watch this video to get a basic understanding of Respondus LockDown Browser and the webcam feature.

Similar to ProctorU, Respondus allows students to take online assessments from a remote location - all while ensuring the integrity of the exam process. Unlike ProctorU, Respondus uses a fully automated AI system to proctor the student during their session.

Respondus LDB is a free custom browser for students which locks down their computer to prevent any attempt at cheating during the exam.

Respondus Monitor functions the same as Lockdown Browse would normal, but requires the addition of a webcam during the exam.

There are different versions of the Respondus Lockdown Browser for other institutions. Please make sure to review the Respondus technology requirements to make sure your device is compatible.
