Description:
Cooling towers are essential components in various industries and power plants worldwide. The primary objective of cooling towers is to dissipate excess heat into the air. The importance of cooling towers extends to a wide range of industries, including power generation, chemical processing, manufacturing, and data centers, HVAC sectors etc. The primary objective of our project was to design a cost effective, low power consuming cooling tower with an improved drift eliminator. Atomized water droplets try to leave the cooling tower and thus a significant amount of water is lost. We tried to design an improved drift eliminator so that most of water droplets can be trapped inside the cooling tower while hot air would leave easily. Also, we followed a comprehensive design process, which included selection of materials, components etc. We also ensured the efficient design of water atomization by spray nozzle. Overall, our project was successful in achieving basic requirements and performance of a cooling tower. This report provides a detailed overview of the project, including the design, construction, performance analysis and highlights the benefits of film fill cooling tower design for cost optimization and improved performance.
