Dr. Md Joynal Abedin is a neuroscientist and bioengineer with extensive experience in modeling neurological diseases and developing translational research tools for drug discovery and neurotechnology applications. His work spans in vitro 3D tissue models, in vivo neural recording and modulation, and in silico systems modeling, focused on conditions such as Alzheimer’s disease, epilepsy, and glioblastoma. At Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School, he leads cross-disciplinary efforts applying calcium imaging using multiphoton & miniscope imaging, EEG/EMG, optogenetics, and machine learning to understand brain circuit dysfunction and evaluate therapeutic interventions. Dr. Abedin has designed high-throughput drug screening assays, engineered microfluidic devices for neural connectivity studies, and contributed to preclinical research pipelines. With a strong foundation in electrophysiology, neural data analysis, and bioengineering, he brings a practical, systems-level approach to solving complex problems in neuroscience and neuropharma innovation.
