Once the ophthalmologist has done the best of the possible and available treatment and yet the vision is low or partial, it requires a low vision specialist. It means that even with regular glasses, contact lenses, medication, or surgery the patient may find it difficult to perform everyday tasks. The Low Vision Clinic provides a service for people who have permanent visual impairment that cannot be corrected to normal levels by standard spectacles or contact lenses. Low vision can result from specific eye conditions such as macular degeneration, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, from a stroke or in children from macular degeneration, stargards, RP, ROP and many other eye conditions.
MCVI is one of the unique centres where we prescribe low vision devices to assist visually disabled in their daily life. Tests will be performed to measure the severity of eye impairment and devices shall be prescribed to assist the patient in using his or her remaining vision more effectively. We can assist you by providing a link with a counsellor or a support group to help you deal with your feelings related to your changed vision. We would guide you in rehabilitation services for the visually impaired.
MCVI now introduces Vision Enhancement Therapy through vision training software program, clinically and scientifically proven to improve vision in amblyopia, eye diseases, and vision impairments in Nystagmus, Stargardt Disease, Lasik Surgery, Cataract Surgery, Macular Degeneration etc.
