Recognitions

MASB's President's Recognition

At any given time, there are over 6,000 elected trustees on Boards of Education across Michigan. Each year, only a handful are recognized by the Michigan Association of School Boards (MASB) with the President's Award, honoring school board members for extensive leadership training and professional development. 

I will bring that same focus on professional growth to the council and ensure that we receive the training we need. 

EMU's Distinguished Faculty Award

Each year, Eastern Michigan University recognizes six faculty members for outstanding work in teaching, research, or service, the elements core to our roles. In 2020, I was honored to receive the recognition for Service, a peer-driven recognition for years of work on behalf of the larger community.  

Service runs deep in my blood, and that dedication is something I will bring to Saline as Mayor. 

SalineBeGreen

In 2018, I received the Saline Environmental Commission's SalineBeGreen award for my work pairing Middle School students with the Leslee Niethammer Saline River Preserve. You can still see the student-made signage along the trails. I wrote a paper for a Middle School journal called The Seventeen Acre Classroom based on that project and was so proud to see the teachers and students who led the work recognized the year before. 

Coldest Trustee

Okay, I made this one up, but I proudly participated in the Polar Plunge (twice) to raise money and awareness of Special Olympics. I have supported that organization since high school.  I also run in the Chad Tough and Summerfest 5K races to raise funds. I may be slow, but I'm steady.

I am always encouraging people to share what they can of themselves.
