Happy birthday to Walter!!!
Google Meet Recording:
Fundations
1. Help your child sound out/read the following words:
sap tap rap
cat rat fat
2. On google meet:
letter/ sound flashcards
sounding out CVC words
practice writing some uppercase and lowercase letters
Writing - The focus continues to be on labeling with the goal of the students stretching the words out to help them hear even more of the letter sounds to write down for each label. They may ask you to just tell them the letters to copy down but it is much more beneficial for them to try to do it with just a bit of help from you if needed.
On a piece of plain paper have your child draw and then colour a picture that tells a clear story. The picture should include lots of details and different colours that make sense. (It is a good idea to encourage different story ideas each day.)
**If your child draws a picture with only 1-2 things you could ask questions such as -Where is the story taking place? What is happening in the story? Who is there? When is the story happening ( day/ night)? This will encourage your child to add more details to their drawing which will help turn it into a story.
Have your child verbally tell you what their story is.
Have your child label at least 5 things in their story with the sounds they hear by stretching the word out slowly/saying it a few times. At this stage your child's spelling won't be totally accurate but they should try to write as many sounds as they hear in a word. Remind them to write left to right so words are not backwards.
** For example if your child is labelling a cat they might write " ct" or if they are labeling snow they might write "sno".
Reading
2. Write these words on pieces of paper and hide them around your house. Have your child find them and read them to you:
