Your school secretary / Assistant to the Principal will have your school laptop. You will need to go to this person and ask for your laptop (and keys) if you are not presented one otherwise.
Open your computer. Choose "other user" if there is someone else listed when you first see the screen. Then enter as your username, your first initial and last name (John Doe, jdoe). For your password, enter your initials and cortez (EX: jdcortez).
Once you are logged into your computer, use Ctrl-Alt-Delete and choose "change a password". You will enter the current password, and create a new one.
This will all be possible once you have your school gmail (@cortez.k12.co.us). The gmail account is essential for all access to tech platforms.
Here is a link to our district technology Not all programs are used by everyone. You will receive training before you need to get into the programs. If you want to explore, once you have your district email, log into https://clever.com/ with your school gmail - this is our single sign on and will house most of these apps.

Your mentor will most likely be a teacher in your content area/grade level at your campus. In some cases one is not available, and you may be paired with someone in a different level or content area, or even another campus. Your mentor is a teacher who has been regarded a good model of best practices, and is eager to support new staff. They are chosen from a pool by your principal. Your mentor is excited to meet you! Remember, it may be along time since they were a new teacher - so don't be afraid to ask questions beyond what is in your handbook.
