Panel discussion

A full session will be dedicated to “Role of Women in Science and Society”, on 7th November, the birthday of Marie Curie. This will enable eminent scientists and social scientists to share their views on the role played by women in the upliftment of science and society, in general. This event will be open to the public for participation.

Panelists:

  • Nandini Harinath: She is a rocket scientist at ISRO's satellite centre in Bengaluru, and was the deputy operations director on the Mars Orbiter Mission, Mangalyaan.
  • Sudha Bhattacharya: She is a Professor at the School of Environmental Sciences, JNU, and works in the area of molecular parasitology. She is a Fellow of all the three science academies of India.
  • Gita Chadha: She is Associate Director of the Avabai Wadia Archives for Women at the Research Centre for Women's Studies, SNDT University, Mumbai. She is a sociologist with special interest in feminism.
  • Dinakar Kanjilal: She is the Director of the Inter University Accelerator Centre, New Delhi. He is a member of the National Advisory Committee for MCSC 2017.
  • Sarita Ahlawat: She is the founder of Living Science, a forum run by the young research scholars to facilitate conversations with prominent scientists.
  • R. Ramaswamy: He is the President of the Indian Academy of Sciences and has been actively involved in promoting the engaging women in science for years.
