Mithila Chhath Puja Samiti is a non-profit organization dedicated to the celebration and preservation of Chhath Puja, one of the most revered festivals in the Hindu tradition. Though our origins lie in the Mithila region, our focus is on uniting devotees from all backgrounds to celebrate the powerful rituals of Chhath Puja. We aim to bring the same devotion and cultural authenticity to Bangalore, where the festival is celebrated annually at the Mithila Chhath Puja Talaab in Electronic City.

Chhath Puja is an ancient Hindu festival devoted to the Sun God (Surya) and Chhathi Maiya, symbolizing gratitude and reverence for nature. The festival is observed with deep spiritual discipline, and it is celebrated widely across Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, and Nepal. Mithila Chhath Puja Samiti's mission is to provide a platform for all communities to come together and honour this tradition, transcending regional or cultural divides.

Our Objectives:

Preservation of Tradition: Ensuring the sacred rituals of Chhath Puja are maintained in their authentic form for future generations.
Inclusive Community Engagement: Bringing together devotees from all communities to celebrate this festival, fostering spiritual unity and togetherness.
Environmentally Conscious Celebrations: Promoting eco-friendly practices during Chhath Puja, including the use of biodegradable materials and maintaining cleanliness at the Talaab.
Social Welfare Initiatives: Engaging in charitable activities such as distributing prasad and essentials to the underprivileged, making the blessings of the festival accessible to all.

Annual Celebrations:

Every year, we organize Chhath Puja at Mithila Chhath Puja Talaab in Electronic City, Bangalore, inviting hundreds of devotees to participate in:

Nahay Khay: The beginning of the festival, focusing on purification and preparation for fasting.
Kharna: The second day is marked by a strict fast and offering of prasad to Chhathi Maiya.
Sandhya Arghya: The third day, is dedicated to offering prayers to the setting Sun.
Usha Arghya: The concluding day, where offerings are made to the rising Sun, followed by the breaking of the fast and distribution of prasad.

We invite everyone to participate, regardless of their cultural or regional background, as we promote the timeless values of faith, unity, and environmental respect central to Chhath Puja.

छठ पूजा सूर्य भगवान और छठी मैया को समर्पित एक प्राचीन हिन्दू पर्व है, जो प्रकृति और जीवन के प्रति आभार प्रकट करता है। यह त्योहार मुख्य रूप से बिहार, झारखंड, उत्तर प्रदेश और नेपाल में मनाया जाता है। मिथिला छठ पूजा समिति का उद्देश्य इस पवित्र त्योहार को सभी समुदायों तक पहुँचाना है, ताकि लोग अपने भौगोलिक और सांस्कृतिक भेदभाव को छोड़कर इस आध्यात्मिक अनुभव का हिस्सा बन सकें।

हमारे उद्देश्य:

परंपरा की रक्षा: छठ पूजा के पवित्र रीति-रिवाजों को संरक्षित करना और उन्हें आने वाली पीढ़ियों तक पहुँचाना।
समुदाय की एकजुटता: सभी समुदायों के लोगों को इस त्योहार में शामिल करना, जिससे आध्यात्मिक एकता और भाईचारा बढ़े।
पर्यावरण-संरक्षण: छठ पूजा के दौरान पर्यावरण के अनुकूल प्रथाओं को प्रोत्साहित करना, जैसे जैविक सामग्री का उपयोग और तालाब की स्वच्छता बनाए रखना।
सामाजिक कल्याण: प्रसाद और जरूरतमंदों को आवश्यक वस्तुओं का वितरण करके समाज के कमजोर वर्गों तक इस त्योहार की खुशी पहुँचाना।

वार्षिक छठ पूजा उत्सव:

हर साल, समिति बेंगलुरु के इलेक्ट्रॉनिक सिटी में स्थित मिथिला छठ पूजा तालाब में छठ पूजा का आयोजन करती है। इस पूजा में सैकड़ों श्रद्धालु भाग लेते हैं और विभिन्न धार्मिक अनुष्ठानों का पालन करते हैं:

नहाय खाय: इस दिन व्रती अपनी शारीरिक और आत्मिक शुद्धि के लिए तैयार होते हैं।
खरना: दूसरे दिन व्रती उपवास रखते हैं और छठी मैया को प्रसाद अर्पित करते हैं।
संध्या अर्घ्य: तीसरे दिन डूबते सूर्य को अर्घ्य अर्पित किया जाता है।
उषा अर्घ्य: चौथे और अंतिम दिन उगते सूर्य को अर्घ्य दिया जाता है, जिसके बाद व्रती अपना उपवास तोड़ते हैं और प्रसाद वितरण किया जाता है।
