About SV-NIT

Established in 1961 as Regional Engineering College (REC), the Institute was upgraded to a National Institute of Technology (NIT) with the status of Deemed University in 2002. Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology (SV-NIT) is an institute of national importance and a pioneer in engineering education in India. It offers undergraduate programs in six engineering disciplines and postgraduate and doctoral programs in twenty engineering and applied science disciplines. Additionally, it provides 5-year integrated M.Sc. programs in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry. The institute emphasizes interdisciplinary research and offers students and faculty members a platform to work together across disciplines and pursue innovative research projects.

About Department of Civil Engineering, SV-NIT

The Department of Civil Engineering is one of the profound department of the institute that was established in 1961. The department offers Under Graduate as well as Post Graduate and Doctoral program in in seven distinct streams:

Transportation Engineering and Planning
Environmental Engineering
Water Resource Engineering
Urban Planning
Geotechnical Engineering
Structural Engineering
Construction Technology and Management

It has a Centre of Excellence in ‘Water Resource and Flood Management.’ It also offers consultancy services in all the areas of civil engineering. Currently 60 doctoral students have successfully completed their research at the department. The department focuses on an overall inclusive growth of students to make them professionally competent and socially relevant.

About Construction Technology and Management Section

The Construction Technology and Management (CTM) post-graduate program was launched in 2020, with an annual intake of 31 students. Out of these, 26 seats are filled through the Centralized Counseling for M.Tech. (CCMT) the program, while the remaining 5 seats are reserved for sponsored candidates. The PG program also offers M.Tech. Research. Currently, the program has 51 enrolled PG students, which includes 2 self-sponsored candidates and 2 M.Tech. Research candidates. The CTM Section actively handles research and consultancy projects and has established various international tie-ups.
