Practical, step-by-step help for Midwest Division departments and detachments with ROIs, Form 990 filing, Secretary of State standing, EINs, incorporation, and bylaws tracking.
Find your Department or detachment by its official name and detachment number, if applicable.
Review each status item and its supporting record or review date.
Open the guide for the item needing attention.
Keep your filing confirmations and send a copy to the compliance director for review when a tracker update is needed.
The dashboard label Compliant means its tracked ROI, IRS/990, and Secretary of State checks are marked good. It is a summary of the records available to the Midwest Division, not a certification of every legal or National requirement. Confirm the review dates and the official agency or National record when needed.
Bylaws are tracked separately. A copy missing from the tracker does not by itself show that an organization failed to adopt bylaws. Required bylaws still must be adopted and approved by the proper Judge Advocate. Other obligations, including PLM audits, fundraising permissions, and event insurance, may also apply.
Official Department name or detachment number and name.
Organization Profile ID, if available, and your name and MCL position.
EIN confirmation and relevant IRS notices, filing acceptances, or group-inclusion evidence.
State entity number, current status, and filing confirmation.
Current signed ROI and evidence of submission to the required recipients.
Adopted bylaws, any adopted Administrative Procedures, and the Judge Advocate approval record.
The Midwest Division Director of Detachment Development & Compliance reviews the information, updates the tracker, and records follow-up. Each Department and detachment remains responsible for its own filings, records, reports, and governing documents. Approval of bylaws remains with the proper Judge Advocate. Keep membership lists, completed officer reports, bank details, and other sensitive records in restricted internal files.
