Who can check out books from the McKinley Library?
The McKinley Library serves both the STAR Academy and Neighborhood School communities. Teachers, students and caregivers may all borrow books from our collection.
How many books can I check out?
It depends! The library is an excellent context to practice borrowing, taking care of, and returning shared materials. As students get older, their capacity for increased responsibility also increases. If a student needs more books than their borrowing limit permits, I'm happy to work with them and their adults to find a reasonable solution.
Generally, students in upper elementary grades may have up to three books checked out at a time, students in lower elementary check out one at a time. Adults may have up to 10 books checked out at any given time.
How long can I keep a book?
Books are automatically given a 2 week lending period but if you need more time with a book, just speak to me, Paula. If there's a wait for a specific book, we'll work together to find a solution that feels fair.
Where do I return a book when I'm done?
The book return bin is located in the library.
