Why it matters: The ACT is one of the main college entrance exams used for admissions and scholarships. Colleges look at this score, and higher scores can open doors to more scholarship opportunities.
Tip: Start preparing early! Take practice tests, review content areas and set score goals.
Apply to gain hands-on career experience through a paid summer internship. You’ll also get job readiness training, networking opportunities, and mentorship.

This is the place where Ms.Latimer you will explore schools, build your college list, find scholarships, help Ms.Latimer track your applications, and access career planning tools.
How to log in to Schoolinks:
Go to Schoolinks Login
Click “Login with Clever” (or your school’s single sign-on, if that’s what you use).
Use your school email and password.
You will complete the questions.
Once logged in, explore the left sidebar:
Colleges → Scholarship Matching – fill out your profile so Schoolinks can match you with scholarships.
Colleges → College List – start building your list of schools you’re interested in.
Careers → Assessments – take personality/career quizzes to see what fits your interests.
Tasks/To-Do – check deadlines and assignments from me.
Tip: Bookmark Schoolinks in your browser so you can easily get back to it.
Career & Scholarship Prep
College & Career Fairs: Juniors can start attending fairs to connect with college reps, learn about different schools, and even find scholarship opportunities. Don’t miss these events, they can open doors now, not just senior year!
College Rep Visits: Check the events calendar to see when schools are visiting McKinley. Aim to attend at least 3 visits this year. Sign up here
Scholarships: Believe it or not, many scholarships are open to juniors! Start looking and applying early so you don’t miss out.
Resume Building: Begin working on your resume now. You’ll need it for SLIP, jobs, internships, and scholarships.
Junior Year Checklist
Take the PSAT in October.
Keep your GPA strong: colleges pay close attention to your junior year grades.
Take the ACT in March.
Attend at least one college & career fair: Checl out Home page for fairs
Build your college list in Schoolinks.
Start applying for scholarships.
Apply for SLIP or other internship/volunteer opportunities.
Stay active in clubs, sports, and leadership roles.
