The McKinley Elementary Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) will provide school enrichment and academic activities, support school and family social interactions to increase school spirit, and create a positive atmosphere in the building.
We can accomplish our mission with your help by volunteering your time and/or collaboration (staff and parents/guardians), attending events, and providing financial support.
Committee and Coordinator Opportunities
We would like to give our members the opportunity to have a leadership within the PTO, so we are offering some coordinator roles. These would be limited duties and only committing to a few things/days as opposed to the entire year. I attached a list of what each duty would include. Let us know if you are interested in any of them

Donation Committee Member
Solicits businesses for any donations, either by phone call, in-person visit, or by sending donation letters.
Send thank you notes to each business or individual that donates items or money.
Responsible for inventory of donated items.
Assists Donation Committee Chair as needed.

Carnival Committee
Carnival Game Coordinator
With the help of the entire committee, plan and name the carnival games.
Decide which games will need to be bought, borrowed, made, or already have.
Ensure that all games are being acquired and meeting the committee timeline.
Ensure all game pieces are accounted for and are in working condition before the event.
Ensure every game has written and detailed instructions.
Ensure all volunteers know how their game is supposed to run
Work with the chairperson to develop a map of games and activities for the day of.
Keep the “games” tab on the carnival spreadsheet current and up to date.
Other Duties as Needed.
Carnival Volunteer Coordinator
Compile a list of all volunteers with their contact information.
Ensure all volunteers have undergone required background checks as required by the district.
Keep the “volunteer” tab on the carnival spreadsheet current and up to date.
Create a schedule for volunteer sign-ups and send out “sign up genius” to volunteers.
Develop a master list of volunteers and their assignments.
Create a Volunteer sign-in sheet for the day of and ensure that the ticket booth has it prior to the start of the event. (Should include their assignments)
Send out final confirmation and schedule with instructions to volunteers the week of the event. Ensure volunteers are aware of any guidelines set by the district and the committee.
On the day of, ensure all volunteers are accounted for and in correctly assigned areas.

Carnival Decorations Coordinator
With the help of the entire committee, develop a decorating strategy. Compile a list of all necessary decoration items, and ensure all items are obtained prior to the event.
Keep the “decoration” tab on the carnival spreadsheet current and up to date.
Ensure all decorations are gathered or made prior to the event.
Ensure all decorations are set up on the day of.

Carnival Promotions Coordinator
With help from the committee, plan a marketing strategy: Creating Flyers, advertisements, social media posts, etc.
Prepare all carnival donation materials: banners, signs, etc.
Ensure all promotional items are consistent and follow McKinley PTO & Joplin Schools guidelines.

Teacher Appreciation Committee
With help from board members, plan and execute a week full of activities and treats for teachers during Teacher Appreciation Week.
