Welcome to Emma McDonough's portfolio. Emma is a senior at the University of Arizona studying a double major of journalism and political science with a minor in gender and women's sciences and an emphasis in American politics. She is also the Managing Editor at The Daily Wildcat newspaper. She has reported on numerous stories across the University of Arizona campus. Some standout stories include an investigative piece on student protests against the UA's contract with Flock Safety, along with the UA's decision to consolidate cultural resource centers into one multi-cultural hub. Additionally, Emma is a communications and digital intern for Hickenlooper for Colorado – U.S. Senator John Hickenlooper's re-election campaign. In this role, she will be learning about campaign strategy, political communications and digital engagement, with a focus on how campaigns craft messaging, connect with voters and respond to the fast pace of the political landscape. Emma is also a fellow for Rep. Raskin's Democracy Summer initiative, which connects interns working on campaigns with additional networking, speaker seminars, and workshops on democracy, voting rights and political organizing. She was previously a writing intern for Children's Hospital Colorado, producing articles on hospital-wide research and patient stories.
