About this Page:
Welcome to Emma McDonough's portfolio. Emma is a junior at the University of Arizona studying a double major of journalism and political science with a minor in gender and women's sciences and an emphasis in American politics. She is also the News Editor at the Daily Wildcat newspaper. She has reported on numerous stories across the University of Arizona campus. Some standout stories include an investigative piece on student protests against the UA's contract with Flock Safety, along with the UA's decision to consolidate cultural resource centers into one multi-cultural hub. Emma is also a writing intern for Children's Hospital Colorado. For this internship, she is in charge of writing articles under three categories: Q-Blog, patient stories and Just Ask Children's. Q-Blog is Emma's favorite format to write under. This is primary science journalism that covers research done throughout the hospital. Patient stories are an amazing opportunity to highlight the stories and hardships of children and their families who have been seen at Children's Colorado. Finally, Just Ask Children's is an informational parental article platform that works within the bounds of health literacy to give parents helpful advice. All of these articles are written based on interviews with principal investigators, medical experts and, of course, families and patients.
