Thomas McCormick II was born in March 1840 it is not known if he was born in Upper Canada or Lower Canada, however he was Baptized February 13, 1840 in Bristol area of Quebec. His baptismal record was found at the mission of Buckingham, at St. Gregoire de Nazianze in Papineau county, Buckingham, Quebec (Lower Canada). He died January 10th, 1912 at 72 years of age. Thomas was buried January 12, 1912 at St. Elizabeth’s of Hungry church cemetery in Vinton, Quebec. His wife Catherine Mary Quinn and several of their children are buried in this grave. Catherine’s name nor any of the others buried with them appears on the tombstone, although they are buried together. Thomas married Catherine Mary Quinn in 1870 in Bathurst township, Lanark County, Upper Canada. Catherine was born August 1850 in Bathurst township, Upper Canada, her were parents were John Quinn and Catherine Hearty. The document below is the Baptismal record of Thomas McCormick , notice the spelling of the name O’Connor as Connican. Godparents were William Eliot and wife Susan Keon. The name Brady in brackets stands for Father Brady who travelled the area from 1840 – 1862. The picture following that is of Thomas’s tombstone. Thomas and Catherine’s son Peter is also in this grave.

Michael John McCormick was born May 5, 1871 in Vinton, Quebec. He married Elizabeth (Lila) Dolligan she was born December 25, 1884 in Vinton, Quebec. Michael died November 29, 1940 in Oakland, California. Michael married Elizabeth in 1909 in Cobalt or Iroquois Falls, Ontario. Michael and Lila had one child name Joseph (John) Sheridan McCormick. Michael and Lila separated about 1912. Michael was in Oakland, California in February 1935 but by July of that same year he was managing a hotel in Vancouver, British Columbia. It is not known whether Michael ever married again. I have been in contact with Michael’s grandson John Jr. (Jack) McCormick who lives in Union, Maine, U.S., he provided much of the information regarding Michael.
Thomas McCormick was born November 12, 1872 in Vinton, Quebec, he died June 13, 1970 at 97 years of age in the town of Shawville, Pontiac county and was buried June 16, 1970 in Shawville, Quebec. Thomas married Catherine Ellen (Kate) McGee widow of Thomas McBride January 9, 1931.
Joseph Stephen McCormick was born on May 12th,1876 and Baptized on June 4th,1876 at St. Elizabeth’s church in Vinton, Quebec. Joseph left Vinton for Nipissing, Ontario about 1902 where he met and married Rose Slaven in Warren, Ontario just east of Sudbury. Rose was a school teacher from Prince Edward Island. Joseph was a lumberjack and later moved the family to Sudbury where he worked for the City Water and Light Department. Joseph died on Wednesday February 27th, 1935 in Sudbury, Ontario he is buried St. joseph's Catholic cemetery in Chelmsford, Ontario just west of Sudbury, Ontario. Joseph’s funeral was paid for by the city, there is no tombstone on his grave.
Mary (Minnie) McCormick was born September 11th, 1878 in Vinton, Quebec she was baptised October 10th,1878 at St. Elizabeth’s church in Vinton, Quebec. Mary died April 30th,1960 at 83 years of age and was buried May 3rd,1960 at St. Elizabeth’s cemetery in Vinton, Quebec. At this point it appears Mary never married.
Annie McCormick was born March 29, 1884 in Vinton, Quebec. Annie died March 12, 1944 at 59 years 11 months of age of anterior sclerosis and thyroid problems. She is buried at St. Elizabeth's cemetery in Vinton, Quebec. It appears Annie never married. Annie worked for the federal government in Ottawa.
Margaret Ellen McCormick was born December 8th, 1882 and was baptized December 8th, 1882 at St. Elizabeth’s church in Vinton, Quebec. Margaret died March 19, 1973 at 90 years of age. Margaret is buried in Ottawa, Ontario. Margaret married Edward Stafford on May 5th, 1920 at St. Elizabeth’s church in Vinton.
Peter Denis McCormick was born February 29th, 1883 and was baptized March 2nd, 1884 at St. Elizabeth’s church in Vinton, Quebec. Peter died September 19th, 1959 at 76 years of age, he was buried September 22nd, 1959 in St. Elizabeth’s cemetery with his father and mother. Peter never married; he was a prospector who spent much of his time in the wilderness of the Temiskaming area of Quebec.
Mark McCormick was born October 30, 1884 in Vinton, Quebec, at this point there is very little information on him due to a fire at St. Elizabeth’s Church in 1896 which destroyed the records between 1884 to 1896. Mark was living in Windsor, Ontario in 1935. Mark married and had 2 children a son John who became a priest and a daughter Rita who lives in the Windsor area.
William Charles McCormick was born on July 19, 1887 and was baptized on July 27, 1887 at St. Elizabeth's of Hungary Catholic church in Vinton, Quebec. William died in 1972 in Windsor, Ontario and is Buried at St. Alphonsus catholic cemetery in Windsor. William married Mary Hearty on August 27, 1917. William and Mary left Vinton together along with Mary's brother. They married in Timmins, Ontario before moving to Thunder Bay, Ontario and working in the timber mills. Eventually William & Mary settled in Windsor, Ontario where they raised 7 children. Their youngest child was Leonard McCormick who I had the pleasure of meeting and who provided much of the information on this branch of the family. Leonard passed away in 2007. Many descendants of William & Mary's still live Windsor today.
Catherine (Katie) McCormick was born on July 9, 1874 in Vinton, Quebec. She married William Dunn whose family owned the farm next to the McCormick's in Vinton on February 18, 1896 at St. Ann's Catholic church on Grand Calumet Island. Catherine died April 15, 1957 at 82 years of age and was buried April 17, 1957 at St. Elizabeth's church in Vinton, Quebec. Catherine and William were living Ottawa, Ontario in 1921.
Almira Mary McCormick was born June 21, 1889 in Vinton, Quebec, Canada. She married Hugh Apelle and was living in Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1935. Almira was living in San Francisco, California sometime after 1940, her husband Hugh had passed away. Almira died August 12, 1977 in Los Angeles, California. Almira had on a daughter Mary b. 1927 and 2 sons Hugh Jr. b. 1922 and William b.1923. Almira left Canada and joined the US army as a nurse where she met Hugh Apelle who was a Pharmacist. It appears Almira was close to her brother William Charles as she visited Windsor, Ontario regularly as is evident from a newspaper clipping and stories told by relatives.
