My latest research engages analytic neo-Hegelians (Sellars and McDowell) and Islamic Peripatetics (mainly Avicenna) in rethinking foundationalism and original intentionality. My manuscript in this area is titled Analytic Philosophy and Avicenna: Knowing the Unknown (Routledge, 2020). Another line of research explores the primacy of ethics in the activity of philosophy, from ancient Greek philosophy through Islamic philosophy to twentieth century figures such as Heidegger, Hadot and Foucault. I have already published a book in this area, titled: Reason Unbound: On Spiritual Practice in Islamic Peripatetic Philosophy (SUNY Press, 2011), which was the subject of a 2012 Pacific APA Author-Meets-Critics session. The papers in this session were published in Comparative Philosophy, 2012. For a selection of the pdfs of my publications, visit my pages on academia.edu and PhilPeople.
