When we were asked this question during admission, we were using handwritten notes because we were not accustomed to expressing our thoughts on digital platforms. At that time, I believed that Literature was simply the study of a particular text. However, after spending two years in this department and receiving guidance from our professor, I have come to realize that Literature encompasses much more than just the study of a text. It delves into language, culture, the world, and everything connected to human beings.
To provide a metaphor for Literature, I would say that it is like a microscope. With our eyes, we may not be able to identify the mistakes or defects in our society or in the actions of powerful people. However, Literature serves as a microscope that helps us identify even the smallest bacteria that can have an impact on our humanity.
