My name is Max Long and I love running. Growing up, I was always active but not really a runner. Things took off in 2019 when I ran my first 10K and thought "I can run faster... and probably farther." Within three years I had run my first half marathon, then full marathon, then 50K, then 50 miler. I love running all distances and I go back and forth on which distance is my favorite. One thing is for sure though - I would not be where I am today without the help of a Running Coach.
I started coaching myself in 2019 before I knew what a Running Coach was. I learned a ton on my own and made significant progress in that first year, but I knew there was a missing piece. In 2020 I decided to find a Running Coach because I wanted to learn from someone more experienced, and to have someone hold me accountable. After only a month of coaching, I was blown away with my progress. As I continued to improve over time, I started getting questions about my training from friends I was running with. I loved answering these questions because I thought it might help them avoid mistakes I made in the past. That was when the idea of Maximum Running began.
I completed the RRCA Coaching Certification Program in December 2022, and I decided to delay the launch of Maximum Running for a bit. I wanted more time to further educate myself, accumulate additional experience and prepare to be the best Coach I can be. I started working with my first Athlete in October 2023 and have enjoyed every second of it. Achieving your running goals can have a major positive impact on your life, and I am happy to help play a part in that process.
The RRCA has trained a national community of knowledgeable and ethical distance Running Coaches to work with runners at all ages and abilities through our Coaching Certification program. RRCA Certified Coaches work with runners and emphasize the use of intelligent training plans that are based on a scientific body of knowledge and designed to help a runner achieve their goals, while minimizing the risks of injuries.
