Economic Imaginary

This strand of my work examines the philosophical, moral, and symbolic foundations of economic and political institutions, with particular attention to economic imaginaries, narratives of debt, capitalism, dignity, violence, and social order.

Drawing on political economy, philosophy, history, and theology, it seeks to reconnect economic analysis with its moral, historical, and existential dimensions. A central question running through this work is how the languages and narratives through which we describe economic life — debt and guilt, competition and violence, dignity and hospitality — shape both our institutions and the range of alternatives we are able to imagine.
