Mental health is often overlooked, if not actively ignored. Nonetheless, mental health concerns are real and ubiquitous. If you are in a position where you work with a lot of people, you may consider taking an online suicide prevention course. Here is a resource which summarizes many different available online courses. Check with your university or institute to see if they provide any funding. For instance the UW funded the QPR Institute training mentioned on the linked page. A very brief resource can also be found here.

I enjoy hiking and biking, and other excuses to get outdoors. I've recently been introduced to mushroom hunting. As someone who is not overly eager to eat mushrooms, it is a surprisingly exciting way to experience the woods!
Thanks to a caffeine habit instigated by a childhood friend (who has founded both a coffee shop and a roastery) I enjoy making and drinking coffee and espresso. I'm always open for recommendations for the best local coffee. For that matter, I like sampling the local bakeries and ice cream shops. (Recommendations are always welcome). My attempts to recreate these culinary delights only sometimes have pleasant outcomes.
At home I have two needy cats, Emma and Emmett, that make sure I'm never too bored. I have also combined my interests and have visited Cat Cafes on 3 different continents!
