I interpreted exhibits for guests, answered questions, facilitated hands-on interactions at touch pools, and promoted ocean conservation. It was a dream come true to contribute to the same aquarium I fell in love with as a child.
After completing my internship, my role as an educator expanded my responsibilities in the aquarium's education department. I took joy in leading private VIP tours, training volunteers and interns, delivering animal ambassador presentations, performing squid dissections for guests, and serving as a bilingual interpretive naturalist in English and Spanish.
This was my first job in marine science! This role allowed me to cut my teeth in science communication and inspired me to pursue a degree in marine science. Here I supervised multiple interactive touch pools, engaged guests in climate conversations, interpreted exhibits and artifacts, created educational materials, and developed a public presentation.
