Junior Year Recruiting Checklist
Take the SAT/ACT test at least once and preferably twice in the Summer - Fall
Make sure the school and your coach gets a copy of your updated score and Study For The Test!
Pass the Standardized test!
Make sure your coach has your correct address, e-mail and phone numbers
Have a great off-season and spring training
Work hard and be a leader for this team!
Play GREAT next fall!
Be prepared to handle all the attention that comes with being recruited
Don’t try to do anything different – you are being recruited because they like the way you play – just keep doing what you have been doing and step it up a notch
Low key all the attention when you are around the other guys
Think about how far away from home you are willing to go
Think about what you would like to major in
Think about what you want to do for a living
Think about where you would like to live after you graduate
Make a list of colleges that would be your dream schools (2-3 schools)
Make a list of 4-5 Division II schools that you would be interested in
Make a list of 4-5 Division III and 4-5 NAIA schools that you would be interested in a. Make sure those schools are interested in you. If they have not contacted you, contact them via e-mail or phone. Visit each of those school’s websites to make sure they are a good fit for you (Academically, Socially, Athletically)
Find out when each of the smaller schools is having their Junior Day or plan an unofficial visit. Make arrangements to go visit. Take the list of questions to ask on a college visit with you.
Find out when each school is having their summer camp. Make arrangements to go to the 1-Day Camp of one of your dream schools. Make sure you go to 2-3 of the 1-Day camps of the D2 and D3 schools.
Go to all the free workout camps possible
Nike and Next Level Athlete are good
Make an academic resume and e-mail it to your coaches. Make sure that you highlight any academic honors and awards that you have received
Include any community service that you have done
