Welcome to the official website of the Mauriwood Film Industry Artists Association (Mauriwood FIAA), a non-profit NGO which promotes film making & the creative arts, entrepreneurship & craftsmanship in Mauritius & in the Indian Ocean to create employment, to alleviate poverty & to fight the social scourges.

The term "Mauriwood" refers to the new wave Mauritian film making & this website details the social endeavors of Mauriwood FIAA in Mauritius, Rodrigues and its collaborations with the islands of the Indian Ocean and countries all over the world.

Dear friends,
10 years after the success of the film "JULIE" which premiered in March 2013, it is a great honour for me to announce the coming soon of our documentary film: "Island Nature Reborn" during the course of this year 2023 !!! "Island Nature Reborn" will be a 1 hour 15 mins documentary film covering the wonderful work done by our local NGOs.

The production of the film has been funded by the MOL Charitable Trust to whom our team of artists & technicians at the Mauriwood FIAA are heartily grateful for this wonderful opportunity. We invite you to check the project trailer below and look forward to see you at MCINE theatres at its release !!!

And while our Production team is busy bringing to reality this documentary film, our dedicated team of trainers is touring around the island to train vulnerable groups, youngsters and women entrepreneurs in video production... In so doing, vulnerable groups & youngsters make of film making a creative passion instead of becoming victims of social scourges, and some of them can even become self sustainable Youtubers or film technicians in the future, while women entrepreneurs can learn how to make videos to promote their products/services.

Besides our documentary "Island Nature Reborn" & our Recreative Learning program, Mauriwood FIAA also commits to support our local/regional NGOs & other organisations by producing videos for them. Whether they need educational tutorial videos for their training activities, videos for awareness campaigns, visual portfolios to showcase their achievements to get support & funding, the Mauriwood FIAA team is ready to deploy its filming arsenal to produce videos for these NGOs & organisations given the noble social cause they strive for.

Last but not least, 2023 will see the realisation of a dream of Mauriwood FIAA which has been slowly but steadily taking shape since 2016: The setup of the Mauriwood Film & Creative Centre at Forest Side (MFCC). The MFCC will house a mini film studio, equiped with a stage, a video editing room, a sound recording booth, a craftmanship workshop and a gallery of film props and artistic creations never seen before in Mauritius. So stay tuned, the Mauriwood Team is working its magic...Action!
