- Open year-round, 24 hours a day*, 7 days a week, except during severe weather closures, and limited staffing situations.
- If you arrive at the park at a time when the entrance station is closed, please pay the entrance fee at the automated fee machine using credit card unless you have a valid America the Beautiful pass (including a Golden Age or Access pass).
*Please note: everyone entering the Summit District of the park between 3:00 AM and 7:00 AM must have a sunrise reservation that is displayed on their vehicle dashboards, even if they do not plan on viewing sunrise.

In order to view sunrise at Haleakalā National Park, you will need to make sunrise viewing reservations ahead of time on recreation.gov.
- Reservations are online up to 60 days in advance of your sunrise visit on recreation.gov.
- A visitor may only purchase one sunrise reservation per three-day period.
- A small number of last-minute tickets are released online two days beforehand at 7:00 AM HST. After the initial release of tickets two months in advance sells out, the website will show tickets as "not yet released" until 7:00 AM two days in advance.
- Please note that calling the park directly, or visiting in-person, will not result in a reservation since staff at Haleakalā National Park are unable to make reservations for you.
- For questions, call the recreation.gov help line at 1-877-444-6777.
- No reservations for sunset are required at this time.

- 3.4 mile moderately rated, heavily trafficked out and back trail located near Hana
- Accessible year-round. Potentially very muddy and wet. Mosquitoes.
- Eerie bamboo trail, banyan tree, and waterfalls

- Side path with signs and a fence barring you from heading in that direction. The NPS has blocked this path bc ppl die
- Absolutely stunning precipice of Makahiku waterfall, a sheer lava-rock cliff face that drops almost 200′ into the valley below.
- Not a safe place
- In normal conditions, the water flows over only the far side; the near side of this pool has taller, thick rock lip that will keep anyone with sense to stay on the pool-side from a one-way date with gravity.
- Views from the pool emulate that of a resort-style Infinity pool and are jaw-dropping (to say the least) as the deep blue of the ocean appears to meet the edge of the pool.
