I am interested in the evolution of good and evil. I usually focus on the sunny side of humans, but occasionally also wonder why we do bad things.
As a remainder of a previous life in research (and in busking), I also keep an interest in how to measure economic growth and inflation. This topic goes by the unrevealing name "index number theory".
I try to minimize harm to the environment, and therefore to other people, so I do not fly. We overvalue our contribution to society and underestimate the harm we impose on others. Conferences are fun and good for careers, but not really all that beneficial to science or society. Terschelling (see picture) is also beautiful, and easy to get to from Amsterdam.
