My Heisenberg project funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG project number 466299774) examines China's role in the creation of new global governance institutions. More information is available at the project website china-hegemony.com.

I am also Principal Investigator of the DFG-founded Researhc Project Ideology of Empire China’s Ideational Binding Practices in Global Governance. Together with Co-Investigator Dr. Steven Langendonk, we examine China's efforts to reshape the global ideational environment at transnational, intergovernmental, and global societal levels. This is part of the Research Unit "Learning Empire: Autonomy, Dependence, and China’s Emerging Imperial Practices", led by Prof. Dr. Tobias ten Brink. 

In addition, I am doing theoretical work on the concept of liberal international order and on modes of international institutional change as a result of hegemonic decline.
