Matthew Bultitude is a consultant urological surgeon in London and one of the leading kidney stone surgeons in the UK. He works at Guys' and St. Thomas' Hospital and sees private patients at London Bridge Hospital with outpatients in The Shard. He consults patients with a wide range of urological problems, and has a special interest in the medical and surgical management of stone disease, endoscopic management of upper tract TCC (UTUC) and treatment of unexplained visible haematuria (blood in the urine) from the kidney. At Guy's he was head of the stone unit for 3 years, clinical lead for the urology department for 2 years, and since 2020 is the Clinical Director for Transplant, Renal and Urology services.

In treating stones, he offers all surgical options including shockwave lithotripsy (ESWL), ureteroscopy with laser stone fragmentation and percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL). This means he is able to give true unbiased advice to help patients decide what treatment is right for them. 

During his training he spent a dedicated period of time in research analysing a number of different topics in the surgical management of stone disease. Prior to taking up his full-time consultant post in 2011 he undertook an overseas fellowship at the Alfred Hospital in Melbourne to further his surgical experience. At Guy's he jointly runs the the dedicated cystinuria clinic, the largest of its kind in the world, and he runs the patient information website

He has published widely in peer reviewed journals, has edited a number of book chapters and presents regularly at national and international meetings. He has been an invited speaker at numerous  international meetings around the world, most recently in Melbourne and San Antonio.  He is Editor for the latest 6th edition of the classic textbook "Browse's Introduction to the Symptoms and Signs of Surgical of Surgical Diseases".

He regularly reviews articles for a number of international peer reviewed journals. He was an Associate Editor for 9 years for the international journal BJU International from 2011 to 2020. He is on the Editorial Board for Nature Reviews Urology. 

He has been Honorary Secretary of the Urology Section of the Royal Society of Medicine in 2017-18, and has been elected to be President of the Section in October 2025. He is currently a member of the BAUS Section of Endourology executive committee, and has recently joined the Scientific Congress Office (SCO) of the European Association of Urology.
