Providing a full spectrum of education, training and consulting services to military and civilian clients
Education and Training classes are efficiently and effectively tailored to the specific needs of each client Typical engagements range from one hour executive overviews of wargaming, through periodic one-on-mentoring of executives, to longer tailored courses depending on the client needs. Topics that can be covered include:
A leader’s overview of wargaming
Wargaming as a decision aid
Wargaming as catalyst for innovation
Preparing to participate in a wargame
Using wargaming to develop effective strategy, theory and practice
Executing a wargame exercise
Case study; a tale of two wargames
An overview of military tools (systems)
Establishing a wargame staff function
Executing the wargame cycle
Consulting engagements are based on the specific problems the client needs to wargame. They include the following range of activities as needed:
Identify the problem and establish the kind of intervention required
Design the wargame or advise on other methods if appropriate
Assist the client in setting up their internal wargame team
Identify and recruit external Subject Matter Experts if needed
Facilitate the game and mentor the client's internal team
Work with the client on the analysis of wargame results
Review the final game report
It makes sense for clients who will use wargaming on a regular basis to set up and use their own internal wargaming capability. The financial benefits are obvious, an internal facility increases the security of sensitive client information, and can be used as a profit center for external clients.
Matt Caffrey works with clients to set up their internal wargaming capabilities to their specifications. An engagement of this type involves some or all of the following activities depending on the client needs:
Identify the client's wargaming needs, required wargaming capabilities and facility specifications
Create an internal wargaming education and training program
Train the client's wargame trainers
Establish a wargame staff function
Execute the first wargame cycle
Periodic monitor and review of the internal capability
