For this lesson students will look at Ex Libris prints used in the past and present. Students will reflect on their own lives with regards to family, interests, and personality as a way of brainstorming for an Ex Libris design of their own. Students will draft their Ex Libris prints in pencil before transferring their finished design onto a linoleum block for carving and printing. Students print their Ex Libris blocks on paper creating a small edition of prints
Students will determine different aspects and characteristics of their lives through brainstorming

Students reflect upon their artistic choices in written form
IStudents will express their personality through the creation of their own personal logos. Students brainstorm ideas and record aspects of their personality and lives through written lists. Written lists will be translated in drawing form and eventually burned onto silkscreen frames for printing. Students will understand the way in which graphic tees and other apparel are printed in the real world

Students will create self-portraits that include various elements relating to their personality and interests that they feel define who they are as people. Through engaging in the creative process students will formulate written lists to organize and develop their thoughts in visual form. The critique process will allow students to work together in order to refine and strengthen their narrative elements. Through self-portraiture and symbolism students will be relaying a visual representation of their personal narratives.

Students will create four-panel recycled cardboard cover accordion books. Students will begin by interviewing a partner and collecting information in written lists. Through the creative process, students will develop their writing into visual form. These books will contain aspects and experiences of the students' lives through the artistic expression of their own classmates. Students accordion books will contain symbols representing past events, current interests, and future aspirations as well as captions of their classmates lives created by the students to aid the viewer through their partners personal narrative.
