Gold Coin Coating Workshop
Learn about the electrochemical process of plating zinc (silver) and brass (gold) on pennies using granular zinc and zinc chloride as well as the process of plating copper on nickels using copper sulfate.

Metal Casting Workshop
Learn about how to metal cast different shapes and designs using pre-made shapes. We'll provide you with all the tools you need to create a mold, make your own metal alloy, and cast your piece. To make a successful metal cast, it is important to apply plenty of pressure on the sand covering the mold and find good placements for holes that you pour liquid metal from.

Candy Making Workshop
Learn about crystallization in hard candies and how it affects the texture.
In order to get candy-cane texture, you dont want the sugar to crystallize. On the other hand, soft mints (like thank you mints from a restaurant) are crystallized. Once a little bit of the candy crystallizes, it spreads very fast, so to get candy cane texture we had to make sure it didn't crystallize at all.

Insulated Haunted House Workshop
Join the MatSci Makers on November 1st from 5 to 7 PM at our Halloween event: Haunted House Decorating with a "hot" twist! We will provide all the tools and frames necessary to decorate your own haunted house and compete to see which contestants can make their house the most thermally insulated using Halloween-themed materials like raven's feathers, mummy's skin, and more. Make & Break: Composites Workshop
Join us at our third annual make and break composites workshop! Design, make, and break your own custom composite on our Instron mechanical testers for a chance to take home our "The Maker" trophy.
We will be hosting two sessions of the event on September 13 from 5-7 PM and September 14 from 11:30 AM - 1:30 PM, feel free to come one, both, or a portion of either!

Ceramics Workshop
MatSci Makers will be holding a Ceramics Workshop next Wednesday, February 22, from 2-4PM in the LRSM Basement. We will provide you with all the tools and clay you need to make your own mini sculpture/container to take home, and we'll also tell you all about the materials science behind making ceramics! Candle Making Workshop
The MatSci Makerspace is holding a Candle making Workshop where you can come in to learn about candles and the materials used in them, plus make your own candle to take home!
