Join us at this year's Halloween-week workshop to make your very own glow-in-the-dark resin keychain! The materials that we will be using glow in the dark due to special embedded compounds that absorb light and slowly rerelease it over time. We will provide all necessary materials for the construction of these glowing keychains, including some spooky Halloween-themed molds!

Join us and the Penn Meditation and Buddhism Club to craft cuboctahedron-shaped lanterns! Cuboctahedral lanterns are typically made during religious festivals like Vesak (Buddhist festival) and Diwali (Hindu festival), signifying themses of bringing light/enlightenment. They are also materials-related, as they are a coordination polyhedron observed in perovskites and other crystal structures. All necessary materials will be provided.

Learn about how to metal cast different shapes and designs using pre-made shapes. We'll provide you with all the tools you need to create a mold, make your own metal alloy, and cast your piece. To make a successful metal cast, it is important to apply plenty of pressure on the sand covering the mold and find good placements for holes that you pour liquid metal from.

Learn about crystallization in hard candies and how it affects the texture. 

In order to get candy-cane texture, you dont want the sugar to crystallize. On the other hand, soft mints (like thank you mints from a restaurant) are crystallized. Once a little bit of the candy crystallizes, it spreads very fast, so to get candy cane texture we had to make sure it didn't crystallize at all.
