Lignocellulosic biomass is a plant or plant-based material that is not used for food or feed and mainly includes agricultural residues, energy crops, forestry. It is a complex biopolymer that is primary composed of cellulose, hemicellulose, and lignin. The major unit of lignocellulosic biomass can be separated by chemical, thermochemical or mechanical treatment.
Our research on lignin focusses on the physicochemical properties of isolated or modified lignin from different pretreatments. The application work which currently on interest are lignin-based wood adhesives, lignin antioxidant, corrosion inhibitors and fillers
Our research on cellulose focusses on the isolation of microcrystalline cellulose, cellulose nanocrystals and their derivatives. The application work which currently on interest are cellulose-based adsorbent and natural filler in composites.
Our research on tannin focusses on their application as wood adhesives, antioxidant and corrosion inhibitors.
