Community Councils are governed by legislation and have duties and powers. They are statutory consultees for local planning applications and can be consulted on road improvements and changes to public transport. Community Councils are increasingly being encouraged to deliver more services, support more local community groups and community activities. They also ensure that Pembs County Council is aware of local concerns.
Mathry Community Council has responsiblity for:
The public toilet in Mathry, maintenance of Castlemorris Village Green and Mathry Village Greens, responding to planning application consultations using local knowledge, representation on several outside community bodies and is the owner of Mathry Community Hall.
Pembrokeshire County Council has responsibility for:
Children, education, and families, health and social care, transport and travel, roads, potholes, repairs, and gritting, recycling centres, bins, litter, and recycling collection, housing, planning applications, fire and public safety, flooding, libraries and archives, trading standards, births, marriages, and deaths, environmental health including noise and dog nuisances and leisure centres.
