SAT Math

Course Description

This course is designed to provide the skills and knowledge needed to perform well on the Math section of the SAT. It will cover topics related to linear equations, creating and solving algebraic equations and expressions, systems of equations, interpreting charts and graphs, ratios and percentages, geometry, and real-world context problems. Throughout the course, students will review important concepts and skills, and will practice by using real SAT Math problems taken from the CollegeBoard website in order to better prepare for the exam.

It is expected that students have taken a minimum of Pre-Algebra, and have a basic understanding of linear equations, polynomials, rational expressions, and quadratics. The course will be fast-paced with no tests or assessments, and practice problems and other course materials will be provided in the Google Classroom. Students are encouraged to practice on their own outside of class and review concepts using KhanAcademy and other websites. Sessions will consist of reviews and explanations of various example problems, the methods and concepts used to solve them, and test-taking strategies/tips.
