A Persistent Market Need
Mathematics achievement remains a significant challenge across Canada. National, international, and provincial assessment results indicate persistent concerns about numeracy achievement and foundational mathematics skills (OECD, 2023; Council of Ministers of Education, Canada, 2024; Alberta Education, 2025).
For investors, these challenges represent a sustained market need for tools that help schools identify learning gaps, target intervention, and monitor student progress. However, the existence of a significant educational problem does not guarantee venture success. The investment opportunity depends on whether MathMap can provide sufficient value to drive institutional adoption and renewal.

Alberta K&E Mathematics 9 results provide one local example of the broader numeracy challenges facing education systems. In 2024/2025, fewer than half of students met the acceptable standard (Alberta Education, 2025). While these results represent a specific student population and should not be generalized to the wider K–12 market, they illustrate the persistent challenges schools face in identifying and addressing gaps in mathematical understanding.
Achievement data can demonstrate the scale of a problem, but they do not explain why students are struggling or identify appropriate interventions. This gap between measuring achievement and supporting instructional action creates the market space MathMap seeks to address.
MathMap operates within a market shaped by persistent numeracy challenges, increasing expectations for targeted intervention, and growing demand for data-informed decision-making.
The strongest opportunity lies in institutional adoption. Schools, divisions, ministries, and educational authorities represent potential customers seeking scalable approaches to assessment, intervention, and progress monitoring.
